The Good: Sporty Ken Killian design in northwest suburbs of Chicago has a little more elevation than most in the area. Excellent variety in holes including strong Par 5’s, some very challenging Par 4’s, and decent Par 3’s including the 17th with a peninsula green! Very good course conditions and large greens that putt smooth. Nice clubhouse with full restaurant and bar has some fantastic 19th hole views. Nice, friendly staff and above average on-course amenities with multiple restroom areas. Very good value for quality of course with nice off-season and internet specials.  One of the better closing holes in the northwestern Chicago suburban area.

The Bad: Course does not take lots of rain well. Some holes can be a little quirky and driving lanes through trees that are almost unplayable. Strange setup to the check-in process and slow pace of play. Practice facility is only marginal with no short game area and mediocre driving range. The cart paths have some of the worst pot holes you will ever see. No GPS or pin placement assistance on the carts.

The Verdict: Chalet Hills is another great public option in northwestern suburbs. Tough, fun course to play for all skill levels.

Best Hole: Many great Par 4 holes, but the closing Par 5 18th is a severe dog leg left that is pure “risk-reward.”
